Summer Connections Program FAQs

How do I apply for this program?

There is no separate application. All new and returning students who are enrolled in National Connections Academy during the summer will receive WebMail messages updating them about Summer Connections activities. In addition, content on their Connexus™ learning management system homepages will include links to these activities.

Do I need to enroll in the Summer Connections program to participate?

No, there is no need to enroll in Summer Connections separately. If you are enrolled in National Connections Academy, you will automatically receive materials via WebMail message for this program and be able to take part in the activities.

Is Summer Connections a summer school program?

Summer Connections is not summer school—it’s a sampling of our clubs and activities for new and returning students. Through Summer Connections, students are able to make new friends and stay involved with National Connections Academy while they learn about the new clubs and activities for the upcoming school year. (Of course, students enrolled in Connections Academy’s summer school courses are encouraged to participate as well!)

Is there a cut-off date for participation in this program?

There is no cut-off date—students will begin receiving Summer Connections updates as soon as they are enrolled in National Connections Academy for the fall semester. Summer Connections activities will begin the week of June 13 and continue through mid-August. The sooner students enroll for the 2011–12 school year, the more Summer Connections activities they will be able to take advantage of throughout the entire summer.

Is Summer Connections available for all grade levels?

All National Connections Academy students are encouraged to participate in Summer Connections activities regardless of their grade level. Some content is geared for students in elementary, middle, and high school; other activities are available for every student.

What activities will be available for students through Summer Connections?

Students will be able to take part in weekly LiveLesson® sessions that showcase National Connections Academy’s student clubs and other special activities. Some of these sessions will be selected from the most popular clubs. Check out a schedule of events!

Students will also receive a biweekly newsletter with a variety of Clubs and Activities content, and their Connexus homepage will feature weekly content such as Quiz Bowl questions and student polls.
