Meet the Head of School:
Dr. Steven Guttentag
Head of School, National Connections Academy;
Chief Education Officer, Connections Academy
Dr. Guttentag’s vision for National Connections Academy was born from his experience as both a student and a teacher in two of the country's most prestigious private schools: the Sidwell Friends school in Washington DC and Phillips Academy Andover.
Dr. Guttentag was one of the co-founders of Connections Academy. He began his career as a classroom teacher. Dr. Guttentag has spent the last 15 years developing creative educational approaches and leveraging technology to improve K-12 education.
In addition to his classroom experience, Dr. Guttentag has held several senior school district administrative positions with responsibilities in the areas of technology, facilities, special education, policy analysis, labor relations, budgeting, restructuring, and grants management. He led KPMG Consulting’s Midwest education practice and more recently was the senior educator for Education Networks of America.
His academic credentials include a BA from the University of Michigan, a M.Ed. in Teaching and Curriculum from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in Policy and Administration from the University of Pennsylvania.
